A man and woman exited a window and slid five stories down a utility pipe to escape a deadly Manhattan fire.

Video captured two occupants escape a deadly Manhattan fire by sliding five stories down a utility pipe Thursday.

FDNY firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire about 7 a.m. in the East Village.

Christian Cortes told PIX 11 that he and his brother witnessed a man and woman exit their fifth floor window, with his brother capturing the harrowing moments on his phone.

“They were looking, figuring out what to do,” Cortes said. "She grabbed her brother to climb with her, and the fire started coming closer out the window. That’s when they started going down slowly, slowly.”

FDNY officials said one person died at the scene and seven others were hurt, including one who sustained serious injuries.

Several e-bikes were found in the apartment where the fire started and investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
